29th September - Siskin flew over, 105 Greenfinches, passage of 150 Rooks and 416 Jackdaws, also 298 Wood Pigeons noted, 187 Coot, 10 Moorhen, 16 Tufted Duck, 6 Pied Wagtails, c.4 Grey Wagtails, Swallow, House Martin, c.45 Starlings, 14 Mistle Thrushes, 7 Song Thrushes, 3 Chiffchaffs, Kingfisher, 3 Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, 4 Meadow Pipit, 6 Skylark, 4 Jays and 2 Goldcrest amongst a party tits which also held at least 19 Long-tailed Tits. (Ed Wilson). 28th September - 3 Redpoll and a Siskin flew over, other birds included 5 Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap calling, Kingfisher, Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and a Meadow Pipit flying over (Ed Wilson). 20th September - 5 Canada Geese, 165 Coot, 10 Moorhens, 2 Tufted Duck, Cormorant, 7 Pied Wagtails, 5 Swallows on the move in 3 small parties, House Martins heard, 4 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps, Kingfisher, Meadow Pipit, 5 Jays, 3 Mistle Thrushes, 2 Kestrels, Sparrowhawk, Willow Tits in one of the tit parties and a Goldcrest (Ed Wilson). 17th September - duck Pintail, drake Pochard, 5 Chiffchaff and a a Blackcap. A few Swallows on the move (Ed Wilson). 10th September - a juvenile/1st winter Arctic Tern went through early (Ed Wilson). 9th September - Little Grebe, 26 Greenfinches, 4 Jackdaws, 48 Rooks, 105 Wood Pigeons, 46 Canada Geese, 152 Coot, 9 Chiffchaff, a Willow Warbler and a Blackcap. Also a few Pied Wagtails, 75 Swallows passing through and a few House Martins. Other birds of interest were the brief visit by an immature Cormorant; a fly-over Kestrel, the usual Kingfisher, at least 2 Jays and a calling Great Spotted Woodpecker (Ed Wilson). 5th September - 3 Mute Swans (one with a blue Darvic ring 7BLE) arrived from the W and were chased off by the resident pair. An adult Cormorant called in, Coot numbers continue to increase with 135 adults and 7 juveniles, 7 Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler calling, 1 Blackcap heard, 19 Pied Wagtails and 3 Swallows headed SE Other birds of interest were a Kingfisher, Jay and 3 Goldcrest (Ed Wilson). 2nd September - Little Grebe, 7 Mistle Thrush, 38+ Greenfinch in the roost, 86 Canada Geese flew over, 9 Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, 10 Pied Wagtails flew over, two small parties of Swallows on the move and single House Martin. Also Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kingfisher and a Linnet (Ed Wilson). |
