The Flash

- Water Rail was new for me here. Give an unusual series of 'kip' notes not unlike Coot and then showing in the clear at the edge of the reeds alongside Derwent Drive

The Flash

A little less mist here than at Priorslee Lake
- lower numbers of diving ducks: 1 Pochard; 10 Tufted Ducks
- again a different set-up of Goosanders - 26 today with only 7 drakes
- 4 Goldcrests together in a tit-party in the NW poplars
- these foraging below 3 Siskins in the alders

The Flash
Totals
- 5 (perhaps 7) Great Crested Grebes
- other than Goosanders unremarkable numbers of ducks: 48 Mallard (30 drakes); 2 Pochard (1 drake); 15 Tufted Duck (10 drakes)
- the Shoveler still present and giving close views - it is in fact a 1st winter drake and not a duck!
- 28 Goosander (12 drakes) but scattered all over the lake diving amongst the gulls and hard to count. Perhaps more
- another good gull-count: 570 Black-headed Gulls; 152 Lesser Black-backed Gulls; 22 Herring Gulls (good for here); and 1 Great Black-backed Gull
- the Ravens as mentioned
- Redwing and Siskin over
